These Sports festivals were today organized at Anantnag, Awantipora and Shopian.
In Anantnag the festival was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Shri Mohammad Younis Malik and SSP Anantnag Shri Altaf Ahmad Khan at Government Degree College Anantnag. DIG South Kashmir Shri Shyam Prakash Pani was the chief guest on the occasion. In Awantipora the sports festival was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Islamic University Awantipora who was the chief guest on the occasion, Shri Mushtaq Ahmad Siddiqi and SSP Awantipora Shri Mohammad Zahid, at District Police Lines Awantipora and in Shopian the festival was inaugurated by SSP Shopian Shri Shriram Ambarkar.
While speaking on the occasion in Anantnag, DC Anantnag hailed District Police Anantnag for organizing the mega festival which will help in collocating sports culture among youth while in Awantipora Chief Guest Shri Mushtaq Ahmad Siddiqi while speaking on the occasion lauded the role of J&K Police in organizing such type of sports activities which provides platform to the youth to excel in various sports activities. He highlighted that the youth of the state are showing keen interest in the sports activities and hoped that they would prove their talent in these events which would pave way for their entry in mega sports events at state, national level and international level. The chief guest called upon the youth to get involved in sports and cultural activities. The Chief Guest also urged youth to shun the path of violence. On the occasion some cultural events, Kashmiri songs were displayed by school children.
The games including Cricket, Volleyball, Kabbadi, Race for boys and girls, Tug of War, Discuss Throw, Shot Put, Wushu, Kho Kho etc will be played in this sports festival.
A cricket match was played on the first day of the sports fest at Anantnag between Qazigund 11 and KP Road 11.
The sports festival in these districts will conclude on 28th of August 2017 in which three top teams/players of each event will participate at Range, Zone and State level subsequently.
